Scripture: Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God.”

We often expect God to show up in loud miracles, booming signs, or sudden breakthroughs. But what about the quiet seasons—when the prayers feel unanswered, the days stretch long, and the voice of God seems silent?

Psalm 46:10 reminds us of a profound truth: God is still God, even in the stillness. “Be still, and know…” It’s not just about physical quietness, but about quieting our anxious hearts, our racing minds, and our striving spirits. In those moments when nothing seems to be happening, God is working behind the scenes. He’s shaping us, teaching us, and strengthening our trust in Him.

Think of Joseph in prison, David in the wilderness, or even Jesus in the tomb—seasons of waiting, uncertainty, and stillness. But each of those quiet places led to God’s greater purpose being revealed. Your quiet season may feel empty, but it’s actually sacred ground. It’s where faith is deepened and where trust is refined.

Maybe today you’re facing a situation where you feel forgotten, delayed, or unsure. Let this be your encouragement: God’s silence is not His absence. He’s with you in the stillness. He sees you, hears you, and is preparing you for what’s ahead.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What area of your life feels silent or still right now?
  2. How can you practice stillness and invite God into that space today?
  3. What is one way you’ve seen God move during a past waiting season?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being present even when I can’t hear or see You clearly. Help me to be still and trust that You are working in the silence. Teach me to lean on You and to find peace in Your presence, no matter what season I’m in. I surrender my worries to You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
