Why Testing Comes Before Any Work Begins
When we take on a restoration project, environmental testing is one step we never skip. It protects both the property and the people who live or work inside it.
Many homes contain materials you cannot evaluate by looking at them. Older drywall, joint compound, flooring, or paint may contain asbestos or lead. If those materials are disturbed during demolition or cleanup without the right precautions, the work itself can spread a hazard through the home.
Testing before work starts tells us what is actually in the building materials. That lets us:
- Plan the job safely from day one
- Protect our team with the right equipment and procedures
- Protect the occupants of the home
- Avoid unintentionally creating a more dangerous situation
Without that information, we would be guessing. Testing gives us the clarity to proceed the right way from the very start.
Why Testing Matters Again at the End
Environmental testing is just as important when a project is finished. Once mitigation is complete, third-party testing provides an independent, physical report that confirms whether the area has been properly mitigated.
Whether the original concern was mold, asbestos, lead, or biohazard contaminants, that final report gives everyone involved clear documentation that the environment is safe. For a homeowner, it is more than our word. It is a written result from someone who had no part in doing the work.
How New Life Restoration Handles Testing
We always use an independent third party
At New Life Restoration, we always use a third-party company for environmental testing. We do not collect the samples ourselves, and we have no involvement in writing the reports. The testing firm is completely independent.
The tester comes in, collects samples according to strict protocols, and sends them to a laboratory for analysis. This process holds us accountable and gives property owners an unbiased verification of our work.
We only partner with certified firms
We only work with certified firms that understand and follow industry standards and safety protocols. These companies are trained to prevent cross-contamination while samples are being collected. That detail matters, because a sample that is handled poorly can give a misleading result.
You can choose your own tester
You are always welcome to choose your own third-party testing firm. As long as the company holds the credentials and certifications required to perform the testing, we fully support your preference.
Why Independence Matters
When the company doing the cleanup also collects the samples and interprets the results, there is an obvious conflict of interest, even if everyone means well. Separating the two roles keeps the process honest:
- The restoration company does the mitigation work.
- The independent tester evaluates conditions and documents the results.
- The laboratory analyzes the samples.
Each party has a clear role, and the property owner gets results they can trust.
