Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
In a world filled with noise, deadlines, and distractions, stillness can feel like a foreign concept. From the moment we wake up to the time we finally rest, our minds are flooded with responsibilities and expectations. Yet God, in His infinite wisdom, calls us to something radically different: stillness.
Psalm 46 speaks of chaos—mountains falling, waters roaring, nations in uproar—and right in the midst of it all, God whispers: “Be still, and know that I am God.” This is not a suggestion; it’s an invitation. A command rooted in love. A reminder that our strength doesn’t come from striving but from trusting.
Today, whatever you’re facing—be it uncertainty, stress, or even a long list of to-dos—take a moment to be still. Pause and breathe. In that stillness, God meets you. In that stillness, you remember: He is in control. He is faithful. He is your refuge and strength.
Reflection Questions:
- What distractions or burdens do you need to lay at the feet of Jesus today?
- When was the last time you allowed yourself to truly be still in His presence?
- How might God be speaking to you through today’s silence?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to slow down today. Remind me that I don’t have to carry everything on my own. In the stillness, draw me closer to You. Speak to my heart and renew my strength. I trust You to be my peace in the midst of the storm. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
