Key Scripture:
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
Devotional
Life often demands more of us than we feel we can give. The pressure to persevere through trials, remain faithful in hardship, and love others when we ourselves are weary can be overwhelming. But God’s Word reminds us that our strength is not found in ourselves—it is found in Him.
In Isaiah 40, the prophet speaks to a weary and exiled people, reminding them that their God is not tired or distant. He is the Creator of the ends of the earth, and He never grows faint or weary. More than that, He gives strength to those who wait on Him.
To “wait on the Lord” is not passive. It is an active, trusting posture. It means setting aside our frantic efforts and choosing to believe that God will show up—sometimes not in the way we expect, but always in the way we need.
When we draw our strength from God, something powerful happens. We may not be lifted out of our circumstances, but we are lifted through them. God gives us eagle’s wings to soar above despair, endurance to run the race, and the grace to keep walking—step by step—even when the road is long.
Reflection
- Where in your life do you feel most weary or weak right now?
- What would it look like for you to “wait on the Lord” in that area?
- How has God strengthened you in the past?
